SBB-CFF-FFS RBDe 560, a Swiss push-pull trainset, generally known as the Neuer Pendelzug (New Commuter Train)
In 1960, four Ae 4/7 (10948–10951) got a wider pantograph compatible to ÖBB standards, so that they could run international trains from St. Margrethen via Bregenz to Lindau.
The total weight of the locomotive of 127 t – incidentally the same as the one of the later built Ae 4/7 – lead to a total weight of 18.6 t at the drive-wheels.

Beside the Be 3/5 12201, Be 4/6 12301, Be 4/6 12302 und coupling rods the SBB procured the Be 2/5 prototype locomotive with fully spring-loaded drives.

The roster of 1927 included – together with two Ae 4/7s – two fast train pairs Basle – Zürich and back with a daily performance of 416 km.
Intended to provide experience with electric traction, the locomotive was intended, along with Be 4/6 12301, Be 4/6 12302 and Gotthardbahn (Gotthard railway).
But technically the locomotive was much more complicated than their sisters Be 4/6 12302 and Be 4/6 12303-12342.

The locomotive body was almost identical to the one of the Be 4/6 12302.

These tubes were the main part of the very distinctive appearance of the locomotive as the Be 4/6 12302 and their successors Be 4/6 12303-12342.

The stepping switch transmitted the traction current to the motors which were connected in series circuit.
The Chemin de fer Pont Brassus (PBr) has never possessed its own locomotives, but has always subcontracted operation to the SBB, which guarantees through service between Vallorbe–Le Pont (SBB) and the PBr route Le Pont-Le Brassus in the Vallée de Joux.

It will link the CFF route Lausanne – Geneva Cornavin – Geneva Airport and the SNCF route Geneva Cornavin – Bellegarde-sur-Valserine – Lyon with lines in the Haute Savoie serving Thonon-les-Bains, Évian-les-Bains, the valley of the Arve to St Gervais and Chamonix and from Annemasse to Annecy.
