After a stint as head of Cameroon Airlines in the mid-1980s, he participated in the beginnings of multiparty politics in the early 1990s, becoming Secretary-General of the UPC.
Because of economic decline and the decline of the national carrier, Cameroon Airlines, the airport currently sees very little traffic, if any.
