In 1891, the town hosted the Capolago Anarchist Congress, attended by Italian anarchist militants such as Pietro Gori, Amilcare Cipriani, Francesco Saverio Merlino and Errico Malatesta.
With a long trip past Buguggiate, Capolago, Varese, Morosolo, Casciago, Velate, St. Ambrose, Bregazzana, the German Alps, and Borgnana Cavagna, the patrol arrived in the late evening of August 27 at Casamora, an isolated area between Brusimpiano and Porto.
In January 1891, he was a supporter of Errico Malatesta in the Congress of Capolago during which the Socialist Revolutionary Anarchist Party (Partito Socialista Anarchico Rivoluzionario) was founded.
