The Captain Brown puppet was later re-used for supporting roles in a number of episodes, re-appearing as Charlie Hansen in "Fire at Rig 15", Neilson in "Noose of Ice", a bartender in "Special Assignment", Dr Conrad in "Flight 104", Professor Carney in "Codename Europa" and Major Reeves in "Renegade Rocket".
When a digitally-remastered re-run of Captain Scarlet and the Mysterons began in the United Kingdom in September 2001, "Big Ben Strikes Again" was originally going to be broadcast as the third episode, but was postponed from its intended BBC Two transmission date due to parallels between the plot, with its depiction of the threat posed by an atomic device, and the September 11 attacks which occurred the same month.
Green's original voice actor, Cy Grant, considered Captain Scarlet to be of positive multicultural value and commented on its possible allegorical nature.
