Woide possessed some leaves of Uncial 070, a Greek-Coptic diglot manuscript of the New Testament known as Fragmentum Woideanum.

1750 he was transcribing the manuscript of the Lexicon Ægiptiaco-Latinum of Mathurin Veyssière de La Croze in Leiden which was enhanced with sahidic words by Christian Scholtz.
In 1778 Woide issued a prospectus in which he announced his intention of publishing from Oxford manuscripts the fragments of the New Testament "iuxta interpretationem dialecti Superioris Aegypti, quae Thebaidica seu Sahidica appellantur".
