Carlos Padilla, Jr. (born 1934/35), Filipino boxing referee and actor
From a famous family of actors and politicians, he is the brother of actor José Padilla, Jr., father to international boxing referee Carlos "Sonny" Padilla, Jr.
This resulted in the appointment of Filipino Carlos Padilla, who sternly warned Ali on multiple occasions throughout the bout that he would be penalized, thus preventing him from doing it as often or effectively as he would have liked.
Starting his acting career in the 1950s, Delgado primarily villainous roles in films produced by Premiere Productions and People's Pictures, and was billed as the leading actor in the 1960 film "Sa Mata ng Diyos" ("In the Eyes of God") along with Tessie Quintana, Leonor Vergara, Carlos Padilla, Jr. and child actor Aida Villegas.
Padilla was born as Esperanza Padilla in 1964, the daughter of actor and sportsman Carlos “Sonny” Padilla, Jr. who served as the referee in the Ali-Frazier world heavyweight boxing match.
