Lewis signed for the Western Mass Pioneers in the USL Second Division in 2007, and made his professional debut on 27 April 2007 in the Pioneers' 2–0 opening day loss to the Charlotte Eagles.
He has an older brother, Terry, who played professional soccer for the Charlotte Eagles, the Puerto Rico Islanders, the New York Red Bulls and Seattle Sounders FC and made seven appearances for the Puerto Rican national team before retiring due to a history of concussions.
He signed with the Charlotte Eagles of the USL Second Division in 2010, making his debut for the Eagles on April 24, 2010 in a game against the Richmond Kickers.

During his recuperation from his broken leg he accepted assistant coaching positions with Dave Richardson at Sockers FC and Bret Hall at the Bridges to the Pros Academy, and was in line to become the Chicago Sockers and Magic Alliance U23 head coach, but opted to sign with the Charlotte Eagles of the USL Second Division instead.
