Veitch has stated: "The mind control operations commenced by Lyndon LaRouche in the USA in the mid-1970s are still being practised today within his movement in Australia".
After leaving Parliament he became involved with the Liberal Party of Australia for a time and contested the 1988 South-Coast by-election for the fringe right-wing Citizens Electoral Council.

In later life he was a follower of the American conspiracy theorist Lyndon LaRouche and was a candidate with the LaRouchite Curtin Labor Alliance, affiliated with the Citizens Electoral Council.
