Cayzer was Chairman of the British & Commonwealth Steamship Company Ltd, of Clan Line Steamers Ltd and of the Union Castle Mail Steamship Company Ltd and also sat as Member of Parliament (MP) for Portsmouth South from 1918 to 1922 and from 1923 to 1939.
Clan Mackenzie was the name of four steamships operated by Clan Line
She was acquired by White Star Line in 1919 and was sold to the Clan Line in 1933 and renamed Clan Colquhoun.

This change of name resulted from the Hunting family's decision to split the group and to transfer their airline business to a new holding company which they had set up together with the Scottish Clan Line, a rival shipping company owned by the Cayzer family.
