Hope Valley Line

From Sheffield, trains head down the Midland Main Line to Dore and Totley, where the Hope Valley Line branches off to run through the Totley Tunnel (the second longest in England).

Midland Line

Midland Main Line between London St Pancras station, the East Midlands and Sheffield.

North Wingfield

The River Rother flows through the village at the bottom of Hepthorne Lane, next to the Midland Main Line.

St. Anne's Church, Sutton Bonington

It is located off the Main Street, at the top end of St Anne's Lane, and near to the Midland Main Line which was constructed past the village in 1840.


Dollis Hill

The first railway in the area was the Dudding Hill Line, opened in 1875 by the Midland Railway to connect its Midland Main Line and Cricklewood goods yard in the east to other lines to the south-west.

Gatwick Express

From May 1984 Mark 2F stock released from Midland Main Line duties coupled to a Class 489 Goods Luggage Van took over the services, hauled by Class 73 locomotives.

Leicester to Burton upon Trent Line

The line's remaining connection with the Midland Main Line is Knighton South Junction, which faces southwards, away from Leicester railway station.

Midland Mainline

The service used the Midland Main Line as far as Trent Junction, before taking the Erewash Valley Line (avoiding Derby) to Clay Cross, rejoining the Midland Main Line until Dore South Curve, before heading west along the Hope Valley Line towards Manchester Piccadilly.

Millhouses railway station

It was situated on the Midland Main Line between Heeley railway station and Beauchief station, and was accessed from the Archer Road overbridge, near the junction of Abbeydale Road and Millhouses Lane.

Rushden Parkway railway station

Rushden Parkway would be built on the Midland Main Line (which runs to the west of Rushden) on the site of the former Irchester railway station.
