After retirement in 2005 he served as Macro Fiscal Advisor to the Minister of Finance and Treasury of the Council of Ministers of Bosnia and Herzegovina, and became the founding Executive Director of the House of Finance of Goethe University in Frankfurt am Main.

Dr. Nikola Špirić (Никола Шпирић) born September 4, 1956 in Drvar, Bosnia and Herzegovina (then a part of Socialist Federal Republic of Yugoslavia) is a Bosnian Serb politician and the Chairman of the Council of Ministers of Bosnia and Herzegovina from 2007 until 2012.
According to the Chairman of the Council of Ministers of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Nikola Špirić, the reconstruction of the cathedral is due to begin in Spring 2008, and will be partially funded by Prince Charles.
