Some notably good riders from the membership of the past were Nino Bibbia, Italy; Jack Heaton, USA; and Billy Fiske, USA (the first American pilot killed in World War II as a volunteer in the "Millionaire Squadron").

Among the best riders in recent years: Swiss Franco Gansser, 8 times Grand National Winner, Lord Wrottesley, finished fourth at the 2002 Olympic Winter Games, current Top record holder James Sunley (50.09 in 1999) and current Junction Record holder Johannes Badrutt (41.02 in 1999).

David Smiley

After the war, he held the record for the most falls in one season on the Cresta Run in St Moritz; bizarrely, he represented Kenya (where he owned a farm) in the Commonwealth Winter Games of 1960.

John Wodehouse, 4th Earl of Kimberley (12 May 1924 – 26 May 2002), styled Lord Wodehouse between 1932 and 1941, was an active British peer, and also a bobsled racer and Cresta member.
