After completing studies he joined as an assistant to "Sameer Thahir" in "Daddy Cool" and later he assisted "Sameer Thahir" in "Chaappa Kurish", "Nidra", "Diamond Necklace", "Anchu Sundharikal" etc.
Technicians such as music director Bijibal, costume designer Sameera Saneesh, and V. Saajan had already collaborated with Aashiq in his first film, Daddy Cool.
A few months after Myponga, Daddy Cool was spotted by former teen guitar prodigy turned producer Robie Porter they signed to the Sparmac label, and in May, 1971 they released their debut single "Eagle Rock".
They also recorded the original version of "Daddy Cool", which was used as part of a medley with Little Richard's "The Girl Can't Help It" for U.K. band Darts which made the U.K charts (#6) in 1977.

In June, she starred as the featured vocalist on Latvian group Melo-M's version of "Daddy Cool" which hit the #1 spot in the LMK charts in the last week of August.
