In 2013, Goddard, in addition to Matthew Michael Carnahan and Lost showrunner Damon Lindelof, wrote the screenplay for the film World War Z starring Brad Pitt and directed by Marc Forster.
As the project developed, ABC soured on the direction they'd given Lieber, and approached J.J. Abrams and Damon Lindelof, who had an overall deal with their own studio, to rewrite.
