Bradley, West Yorkshire

Located north of Deighton and east of Brackenhall (via Bradley bar), the area has two primary schools, a secondary school, and three churches, (one catholic, one Protestant and another converted to a Gymnasium).

Deighton, West Yorkshire

Deighton High School closed on 31 August 1992 and most students and some staff were relocated to Fartown High School.

It starts with a procession of floats playing Reggae Dancehall, Bassline, RnB, Garage and Reggae on the road, costumed bands make up more of the procession including Suga Brown dance group, "Whitacre TRA" and Bradley Junior and Infant and Ashbrow Junior and Infant schools.

Deighton was formally known as East Bradley, and Bradley was called West Bradley, the name changed when the Deighton family bought the area stretching from Screamer Woods (near the Deighton Fields) to Sheepridge and Brackenhall.

Ernest Hirst

Born in New House, Deighton, Huddersfield, Yorkshire, England, Hirst learnt his cricket with the Lascelles Hall Cricket Club and played there from 1873 to 1888.

Simon Baldry

The player is also a former pupil of the old Deighton High School, which was based in Huddersfield and has now closed.

He was also a well known player at amateur clubs Stile Common and Deighton, before signing a professional contract with Huddersfield Town in 1994 at the age of 17.

Under band leader Sgt. Jamie Deighton the band has played in Ronnie Scott's Jazz Club in London and for HRH the Prince of Wales at Highgrove House supporting Pop Idol winner Will Young.
