Dragsholm Castle

Some of the most well-known prisoners at Dragsholm Castle include the last Catholic Bishop in Roskilde, the former owner of the castle, Joachim Rønnow; the 4th Earl of Bothwell, third husband of Mary, Queen of Scots; and the seemingly raving mad squire, Ejler Brockenhuus.

Numerous witnesses and psychics have claimed that there are three ghosts who are residents at the castle: a grey lady, a white lady and James Hepburn, 4th Earl of Bothwell.

Hermitage Castle

Whilst attempting to raise an army, to restore Mary to the throne, he was arrested by King Frederik's men for breach of marriage contract with Anna Throndsen, and imprisoned at Dragsholm Castle in Denmark, where he died insane and in appalling conditions.

Jens Munk

The father had an infamous reputation for his brutal rule over his estates which led to several trials, and in 1585 he was deposed and imprisoned at Dragsholm Castle.
