Both titles were relinquished when McKenzie won the IBF flyweight Title on 5 October 1988 with an 11th round knockout over Rolando Bohol.
Following his retirement from playing football he is currently following in his father's Clinton McKenzie and uncle's Duke McKenzie footsteps and embarking on a career in boxing.

McKenzie was originally a middleweight boxer and was the All England National Amateur Boxing Champion, he is an older brother of boxer Duke McKenzie, and a younger brother of boxer Clinton McKenzie.
