Dorothy was nineteen years old when she met Berlin in New York City where her older brother singer and lyricist Ray Goetz (and later a leading Broadway producer) had been collaborating on some tunes with Berlin.
He co-wrote the 50 Million Frenchmen musical play with Herbert Fields and Cole Porter which was released as the 1930 Warner Brothers film Fifty Million Frenchmen.
