In 1952, after Edmund Rubbra pulled out of the project, Oldham provided a variation for Variations on an Elizabethan Theme, a collaborative work with other contributions by Lennox Berkeley, Britten, Imogen Holst, Humphrey Searle, Michael Tippett and William Walton.
He made several recordings in his capacity as a conductor, including a performance of Gerald Finzi's Dies Natalis and music by Robin Milford and Edmund Rubbra.
Later, he studied organ privately under Edmund Rubbra, George Oldroyd, and George Cunningham and became a Fellow of the Royal College of Organists in 1943, winning the Limpus, Harding and Read Prizes.
She specialised in British contemporary music, including piano sonatas by Arnold Bax, Gordon Jacob (of which she was the dedicatee), E.J. Moeran and Edmund Rubbra.

His other recordings include the music of Britten, Delius, Vaughan Williams, Respighi, Rubbra, Sir Eugene Goossens, Arthur Benjamin, Richard Meale, Robert Still, and Ross Edwards.

The chamber music of Borodin, Respighi, Saint-Saëns, the piano trios of Richard Strauss, the chamber music of the Terezin Composers, Joseph Rheinberger, Eric Zeisel, Max Bruch, Willem Pijper, Zdenek Fibich, Glazunov, Edmund Rubbra, Luigi Cherubini, Wilhelm Stenhammar are among the subjects which appeared in past issues.
Much of the music was premiere performances of material discovered in the Bodleian Library of Oxford University, and included pieces by Matthew Locke, Jacob Obrecht, André Campra, Edmund Rubbra etc.
Several composers dedicated works to her, including Arnold Cooke, Stephen Dodgson, Arthur Benjamin, Edmund Rubbra and Elizabeth Maconchy.
He disbanded this quartet in 1939 and he played modern works of Michael Berkeley, Edmund Rubbra, and Michael Tippett He was also the leader of the Pro Arte Quartet in the US.
