Jofre de Foixà (or Jaufre de Foixa) (died c. 1300) was a troubadour from Foixà in the Empordà, the second son of Bernard of Foixà.
In the Battle of La Bisbal, Spanish General Henry O'Donnell crushed the French forces of General François Xavier de Schwarz on 14 September 1810.

(Other dialectal forms do exist, among them characteristic forms of minor extreme dialects like Ribagorçan or Algherese, or transitional forms between major dialects, like the ones used in the lower Ebre basin area around Tortosa or in the Empordà).
As the collection grew more exhibition space was needed, so in 2004 Can Mario, a disused cork factory in Palafrugell (Empordà), was converted into a museum for showing painting, sculpture and photography, taking over from Ca la Tona, the small museum in Pals.
Sibila belonged to the lineage of Fortià, the lower nobility, with possessions in the rural Empordà, in the county of Ampurias.
