Founded on September 9, 2004 in Helsinki as a Finnish corporation, ECLD started by offering character-based leadership seminars to companies in the Nordic countries, the Baltic region and Russia.

The European Center for Leadership Development (ECLD) is an international network of scholars and practitioners who offer executive education programs to public and private sector and educational professionals based on the leadership model set forth by Alexandre Havard in his book Virtuous Leadership—An Agenda for Personal Excellence (New York: Scepter Publishers, 2007).
