unusual facts about Faddeev–Popov ghost

Light cone gauge

The advantage of light-cone gauge is that all ghosts and other unphysical degrees of freedom can be eliminated.

Faddeev equations

The Coulomb interaction between two protons is a special problem, in that its expansion in separable potentials does not converge, but this is handled by matching the Faddeev solutions to long range coulomb solutions, instead of to plane waves.

Yang–Mills theory

A way out has been given by Ludvig Faddeev and Victor Popov with the introduction of a ghost field (see Faddeev–Popov ghost) that has the property of being unphysical since, although it agrees with Fermi–Dirac statistics, it is a complex scalar field, which violates the spin-statistics theorem.
