Finnish Meteorological Institute

The institute has been a part of several high-profile NASA and ESA missions, such as Phoenix, Mars Science Laboratory, Rosetta and BepiColombo, in addition to leading a lander mission of their own, MetNet.


Electric sail

It was invented by Pekka Janhunen from Finland in 2006 at the FMI and creates a "virtual" sail by forming an electric field on small wires.

Finnish Institute of Marine Research

Since September 2005, the Finnish Institute of Marine Research has had its headquarters in Dynamicum, a building it shares with the Finnish Meteorological Institute in Kumpula, Helsinki.

MetNet

MetNet is an atmospheric science mission to Mars, initiated and defined by the Finnish Meteorological Institute.
