Directed by capable veteran Lew Landers, Flight From Glory was one of a series of aircraft-themed adventure films for RKO Radio Pictures, such as Without Orders (1936), The Man Who Found Himself (1937), Sky Giant (1938) and Pacific Liner (1939).

After starring in Broadway, Heflin had made his first screen appearance opposite Katharine Hepburn in A Woman Rebels (1936).
In 1937 alone, Landers also completed Danger Patrol, Living on Love, Border Cafe, You Can't Buy Luck, They Wanted to Marry and Flight From Glory (another aviation-oriented film).
