Glenn Murcutt used the proverb Touch This Earth Lightly literally in some of his designs.
Murcutt currently lectures and teaches architectural studies as a professor at the UNSW Faculty of Built Environment.

He grew up in the Morobe Province of Papua New Guinea, where he developed an appreciation for simple, vernacular architecture.
Following the initiative of the abbess, Sister Brigitte de Singly, the Poor Clares commissioned Renzo Piano; the association had considered several architects besides Piano, including Tadao Ando, Glenn Murcutt, and Jean Nouvel.
He teaches master classes for beginning and established architects with his colleagues Glenn Murcutt and Peter Stutchbury.
