The Bristol and District League was originally formed in 1892 on the suggestion of Gloucester City player Percy Stout, although Gloucester did not join the league until the following season.
Several of Stout's brothers were high profile sportsmen, and he followed younger brother Frank in joining association football team Gloucester City.
He served as rector of the Trinity Church, Arkansas City, Kansas (assisting at St. John's Military School, Salina, Kansas); Church of the Ascension, Gloucester, New Jersey (1902-1907); St. Luke's Episcopal Church, Newtown, Pennsylvania (1907-1920), and on a number of ecclesiastical commissions.
Pearn played club hockey for Gloucester City, Reading, and also moved to Spain after the Athens Games to compete for Real Club de Polo in Barcelona, before returning to England as player/coach for East Grinstead.
He was appointed verderer and deputy warden of the Forest of Dean from 1801 to his death, Sheriff of Gloucester city in 1807 and Mayor of Gloucester in 1813.
