In 1922 the house became part of Quarry Bank High School, later Calderstones School.

In 1957 Mona Best, mother of the drummer Pete Best bought the house and in 1959 opened the basement as a coffee and music club.
Around the monument are statues depicting personifications, and on the top of the dome is one representing Fame.
On the top is a cornice with a bronze bust of Queen Victoria by Count Victor G. Gleichen.
There are entrances in the end bays with pointed arches above which are niches containing statues of the Prince and Princess of Wales.
