Harry Boland

In the 1996 biographical film Michael Collins, Harry Boland was portrayed by Irish-American actor Aidan Quinn.

Boland held the Russian Crown Jewels as collateral for a loan of $25,000 from the Irish Republic to the Soviet Republic through the head of the Soviet Bureau, Ludwig Martens.

He negotiated a loan with the then Irish Emissary to the United States, T.D. Harry Boland, using the Russian Crown Jewels as security.

During the 1916 Easter Rising in Ireland, several prominent figures involved in it were held at Lewes Prison, including Éamon de Valera (1882–1975); Thomas Ashe (1885–1917); Frank Lawless (1871–1922); and Harry Boland (1887–1922).
