He returned to Congress in 1922, after a hiatus of nearly 25 years, when he was elected to the 67th Congress upon the death of Henry D. Flood in 1921.

Col Alto was the home of Congressman James McDowell (1795-1851), for whom the house was built, and Congressman Henry St. George Tucker III (1853-1932).
Henry St. John Thackeray (1869–30 June 1930) was a British biblical scholar at King's College, Cambridge, an expert on Koine Greek, Josephus and the Septuagint.
Tucker's older brother Henry St. George Tucker, Sr., too, went on to have an eminent career as a law professor and Congressman in antebellum Virginia.
