The label was created by the collective in 1995 to publish and market the collective's, and individual member, releases, as well as releases from other, affiliated artist's that major labels would deem not commercial enough for mass distribution.

Opio has appeared on all four Souls of Mischief albums, both Hieroglyphics studio albums, and released his solo debut, Triangulation Station, in February, 2005 on the Hieroglyphics' own independent label, Hieroglyphics Imperium Recordings.
The group released two albums on Hiero's self-owned independent label, Hieroglyphics Imperium Recordings: 1999's Focus, and 2000's Trilogy: Conflict, Climax, Resolution.
