Born in London, Felix Moscheles was the son of the well-known pianist and music teacher Ignaz Moscheles and husband of the painter Margaret Moscheles.
Ian Hobson has also recorded the first six, and included a pair of variations not recorded by Shelley.
She also performed and made premiere recordings of works by several early romantic composers such as John Field, Johann Nepomuk Hummel, Johann Peter Pixis, Ignaz Moscheles and Friedrich Kalkbrenner.

A great success was obtained by his wide panoramas on the music of Jewish composers on the two last century, and the programmes dedicated to composers of the early Romanticism (Charles-Valentin Alkan, Juan Crisóstomo Arriaga, Ignaz Moscheles, George Pinto, Jan Václav Voříšek, Carl Maria von Weber …).
Meyerbeer also introduced Wagner to Ignaz Moscheles, who was also staying at Boulogne; as Ernest Newman comments, this was "Wagner's first meeting with real international musical celebrities".
