The 2013 IRB Tbilisi Cup was the inaugural edition of this international rugby union tournament, created by the International Rugby Board and was played from 7 to 16 June 2013 at the Avchala Stadium in Tbilisi.

He was a member of the successful England sevens team that won the Melrose Cup in the inaugural IRB 1993 Rugby World Cup Sevens at Murrayfield.
After initially being limited to mainly to substitute appearances behind All Blacks scrum half Aaron Smith, in Tanaka's second start in Super Rugby he was highly praised for his performance against the Blues which even drew praise from the IRB CEO Brett Gosper.
On 21 October 2007 she was awarded the 2007 IRB's Women’s Personality of the Year at Pavillon d'Armenonville in Paris's Allée de Longchamp for being the first female to referee at a male IRB tournament, when she took charge of the 2007 Under 19 Rugby World Championship match between Zimbabwe and Canada on 4 April at Queen's University of Belfast).
He holds a Master of Science degree in Physics from the University of Queensland, and also has an IRB Level 2 Rugby Coaching Certificate; he lists coaching rugby as one of his hobbies.
