On August 11, 2011, Jani Lane was found dead at a hotel room in Woodland Hills, California.

After the release of the CD, and live performances with Robbie Crane on bass guitar, Jani Lane returned to Warrant as lead vocalist, and toured briefly with the band until departing again in the end of summer 2008.
Lyrically, the album appears to have been heavily influenced by the painful divorce which vocalist Jani Lane endured during the record's production.

Jaime St. James is the lead vocalist and primary songwriter of the glam metal band Black 'N Blue. He also served a brief stint in the mid-2000s as the lead singer of Warrant, but he left upon the return of the band's original lead singer Jani Lane to the line-up in 2008. He sang (and co-wrote several tracks) on Warrant's 2006 album Born Again.
Over the years, Jimmy has recorded or toured with artists such as Lithium (whose songs were featured in the film Waking Up Dead), George Lynch and his band Lynch Mob, guitarist Greg Marra, frontman Jani Lane from Warrant as well as Mike Starr from Alice In Chains.
Mike then began co-writing with different artists and producers such as Stacy Jones, SR-71 singer Mitch Allan, Holly Knight, Jack Blades, Jani Lane, Duff McKagan, Matt Sorum, John Corabi and many others.
Although "Back Down to One" was credited as a solo release the singer assembled a new touring band for the album subsequently titled "JANI LANE'S WARRANT" and included Lizzy Borden guitarist Dario Lorina, Chad MacDonald on bass and Troy Patrick Farrell on drums.
