Jamaican-born shooter Carla Borrego applied for Australian citizenship in the offseason, which, if successful by 23 March 2012, would have allowed the Thunderbirds to sign another import player, fellow Jamaican shooter Jhaniele Fowler.
If Borrego's citizenship application is successful, then fellow Jamaican shooter Jhaniele Fowler will reportedly be signed as the Thunderbirds' import player; if the application is unsuccessful, then an Australian player will be chosen instead.
Her contract was contingent on the Thunderbirds' current import, fellow Jamaican shooter Carla Borrego, on gaining Australian citizenship, and allowing the team's import spot for Fowler.
The Steel off set these deflections with the signing of 198 cm Jamaican import Jhaniele Fowler.
