Joel Tyler Headley (December 30, 1813 - d. December 30, 1897) was an American clergyman, historian, Author, newspaper editor and politician who served as Secretary of State of New York.
He is currently a member of the American College of Surgeons, American Medical Association and First Lutheran Church of Kearney and a former member of the Kearney Area Chamber of Commerce.
Lazarus was also an intellectual contributor to Fourierism and the Free Love movement of the 1850s, a social reform group that called for, in its extreme form, the abolition of institutionalized marriage.
As a tribute to his efforts, Ultima fans bought for him a crossbow made by David R. Watson, the real world inspiration for the recurring Ultima character Iolo.
