John Le Neve

He took holy orders, aged 41, and was presented by his patron William Fleetwood to the Lincolnshire rectory of Thornton-le-Moor in January 1722.

In 1716 Le Neve also issued the Life of Dr. Field, Dean of Gloucester, London (on Richard Field); of this he is only known to have written the preface.

He edited William of Malmesbury's De gestis regum anglorum (2 vols., 1840); he continued and corrected John Le Neve's Fasti ecclesiae Anglicanae (3 vols., Oxford, 1854); and with CT Martin he edited and translated L'Estorie des Engles of Geoffrey Gaimar (1888–1889).
