Adjoining the church is the slightly earlier Queensberry Aisle, burial place of the dukes, also by Smith, with a large marble monument to the second Duke (1662-1711) and Mary, his duchess, carved by Jan van Nost.
He was prolific and received many commissions, including work at Melbourne Hall, Castle Howard, Buckingham House and Chatsworth.
The Hall is home to a 1702 marble statue The Crouching Venus by John Van Nost the Elder.
