Juan Aurich

In November of 2004, Juan Merino Aurich took control of the waning football club Mariscal Nieto of the La Victoria district of the Chiclayo Province.

In 2013, the stadium was closed for renovations in preparation for the 2013 Bolivarian Games to be held in Trujillo.

Consequently, Juan Aurich has temporarily moved its home matches to the Estadio Francisco Mendoza Pizarro, located in Olmos.

Built between 1968 and 1970 by the municipality of the Chiclayo Province, it was named after the 19th century Peruvian sailor Elías Aguirre Romero.


2008 Torneo Descentralizado

They were replaced by the champions of the Segunda División 2007 and Copa Perú 2007, Universidad César Vallejo and Juan Aurich.

Only three clubs outside the Lima Province have won a national championship, the first being Unión Huaral (2 titles), the second being Melgar (1 title), and the third being Juan Aurich (1) which are also the only clubs to have won a national title outside the Lima Region.
