John Guerin

From July 1972 to January 1973 he was the drummer for The Byrds, and joined the L.A. Express later that year.

L.A. Express

They recorded the album Tom Scott and the L.A. Express, as well as a number of tracks on Joni Mitchell's Court and Spark album in 1974 with this lineup, before both Carlton and Sample left the group.


B. T. Express

Jamal, who had converted to the Muslim faith, gave Jones the name Kashif Saleem, which he used after departing the group, in 1979, to pursue producing ("Mighty M Productions" with Morrie Brown and Paul Laurence Jones) and solo recording ventures.

Once they joined the WWF they were given a patriotic gimmick along with the Bruce Springsteen classic "Born in the U.S.A." as their entrance music.

Initially, Rick Derringer, who was working with the WWF at the time, wrote the track "Real American" for the team.
