This allowed GO Transit to offer passenger trains along this route starting in 1967, on what is today known as the Lakeshore East line.
Continued growth of the Oshawa area has led to renewed calls for expansion of the Lakeshore East line, this time all the way to Bowmanville.

Buses extend the line to Newcastle via Bowmanville and another bus line began on September 5, 2009, en route towards Peterborough & Trent University.

There has been some discussion of re-using the site as a GO Transit station on an extended Lakeshore East line which would run right in front of it, but Metrolinx and the properly owner did not reach an agreement.
