After the war it changed its name to Ilebu prison and on 8 May 1945 became a camp for prisoners, held in custody and judged traitors from World War II.
In section 4 of the Official Secrets Act 1989, the expression "legal custody" includes detention in pursuance of any enactment or any instrument made under an enactment.

In section 1 of the Prison Security Act 1992, the word "prisoner" means any person for the time being in a prison as a result of any requirement imposed by a court or otherwise that he be detained in legal custody.
