Bucknell railway station

Local bus services (the Arriva 738 & 740) call at the station, which travel between Ludlow and Knighton and call at the nearby villages of Bedstone, Brampton Bryan and Leintwardine.

Hopton Heath railway station

The station is situated in a very rural area; the nearest sizeable settlement is Hopton Castle and further afield are the larger villages of Clungunford and Leintwardine (the latter in Herefordshire).

Knight v Knight

Richard Knight made a settlement on 26 April 1729, which passed the manors of Leintwardine and Downton, Herefordshire, including Croft Castle and Downton Castle, down the family line.

Leintwardine

Leintwardine is home to the Conservative MP Philip Dunne, who represents the Ludlow constituency and Leintwardine itself is represented by Bill Wiggin, MP for North Herefordshire.

In the Upper Silurian series, the Leintwardine beds outcrop in the area and these consist of a calcareous sandstone which would have been suitable for making querns of a finer grade than could be obtained from Millstone grit, which was commonly used.
