Butterflies Are Free is a 1972 film based on the play by Leonard Gershe.
In the early 1960s she lived in Los Angeles with her friend Leonard Gershe and then later in San Francisco were she did volunteer work for soldiers coming back from Vietnam.
He wrote the lyrics for the "Born in a Trunk" sequence from the Judy Garland/James Mason musical A Star Is Born.
