The Catholic Church-owned Radio Ecclesia is broadcast in Luanda Province and frequently hosted spirited debates that spanned the political spectrum and were at times quite critical of government policies.
In 2011 Luanda Province was subdivided into seven municipalities, namely, Luanda, Belas, Cacuaco, Cazenga, Icolo e Bengo, Quiçama and Viana.

Because of recent internal migration there are now also large communities in Luanda and its surrounding province, as well as in Lubango.
Besides 40 bus lines within Luanda province, it also operates over-land bus lines from Luanda to Benguela, Sumbe, N'Dalatando, Malange, Uíge, and Huambo.
