Every year in late July, Burgos Flor puts together cultural events with art shows, poetry, and historical facts commemorating the anniversary of the founding of Guayaquil, his hometown.

Most of Burgos's paintings are abstract, although he has often portrayed famous Ecuadorian artists, writers, and poets such as Julio Jaramillo, Enrique Gil Gilbert, and Karina Galvez.
In 2011, Pablo Goldstein, together with poet Karina Galvez and painter Luis Burgos Flor, was one of the only three non-Mexican artists to be invited to conmemorate the 125th anniversary of the opening of the Consulate General of Mexico in Los Angeles, where he performed Franz Schubert's Ave Maria (Schubert) and several tango pieces for bandoneón.
