She is also the recipient of a Playwrights Horizons Amblin/Dreamworks commission and a National Endowment for the Arts/Theatre Communications Group grant for a year-long residency at Freedom Repertory Theater in Philadelphia.
In 2011 McIntosh played the starring role of Mama Nadi in Lynn Nottage's Pulitzer Prize-winning play Ruined, produced by Obsidian Theatre and Nightwood Theatre.

The plays were Walk Hard, written by Abram Hill and directed by Nicholas Kent, followed by Gem of the Ocean, written by August Wilson and directed by Paulette Randall, where Munroe acted in the role of Aunt Esther Tyler, and finally Lynn Nottage's Fabulation, directed by Indhu Rubasingham.
Recent projects include a collaboration with Carl Hancock Rux on The Blackamoor Angel, a full length opera, a collaboration with Pulitzer Prize winner Lynn Nottage on a musical for children's musical entitled Sweet Billy and the Zooloos, and year-long residency at Harlem Stages with playwright Marcus Gardley.
The first season in the Folino Theatre Center earned rave reviews and introduced three plays — Greenberg's The Violet Hour, Lynn Nottage's Intimate Apparel and Rolin Jones' The Intelligent Design of Jenny Chow.
