Kildalton was sold in 1922 to John Talbot Clifton, a well-to-do landowner from Lytham, Lancashire who was passionately fond of shooting and foreign travel.

Samuel John Wadsworth (13 September 1896 in Darwen, England – 1 September 1961 in Eindhoven, Netherlands) was a professional footballer who played as a defender for Blackburn Rovers, Nelson, Huddersfield Town, Burnley and Lytham.
South Shore railway station, in Lytham Road, was the area's first station in 1863.
From 1851 until 1854 it operated lifeboats at Lytham, Rhyl, Portmadoc, Tenby, Llanelly, Teignmouth, Hornsea and Newhaven but it was subsequently agreed that it would be wiser if one organisation concentrated on rescuing lives at sea while the other helped the survivors or their bereaved families ashore, so in 1854 the Society transferred its lifeboats to the RNLI.
The River Ribble runs through Preston from North Yorkshire and the estuary enters into the Irish Sea near Lytham, and used to transport ships from the cotton mills.
