1914 saw the Becks working their way southwards along the Chilean coast to the Chiloé Archipelago and then, in July, to Magallanes Province.

Magallanes Province

Its eastern portion is located along the northern shore of the Strait of Magellan while the western portion straddles the strait on either side the strait's northwesterly stretch toward the Pacific Ocean.

Between April 1876 and May 1877 a contingent of Swiss immigrants comprising 119 families came to the area of Magellanes (Punta Arenas and Fresh Water), mostly peasants from the canton of Fribourg.
