Elizabeth had large areas of open space, with the most prominent being Fremont Park, on Main North Road.
From the Adelaide city centre, it passes through the Adelaide Parklands and the suburbs of Thorngate, Medindie, Medindie Gardens, Nailsworth, Prospect, Sefton Park, Blair Athol and Enfield before reaching the major intersection at Gepps Cross.
It is situated on the corner on Regency Road, an off-shoot of Main North Road.

The new road was built to four-lane standard to provide a faster route between Adelaide and Gawler, whilst reducing the amount of traffic on Main North Road and Salisbury Highway.
Main North Road joins from the south and continues on to the north-east, towards Parafield, Elizabeth and Gawler, while Port Wakefield Road begins at this location, travelling due north to the northern Adelaide Plains and 90 kilometres to the town of Port Wakefield.
One of these three was later plinthed alongside the main North road at Hwange.
