Some species of Loranthus, in the broad sense, are troublesome parasites, for example they occur in Kerala India as a menace on mango trees (Mangifera indica), a majority of the Anogeissus latifolia trees in the Biligirirangan Hills of Karnataka are infected by Loranthus sp.
It contains approximately 69 species, with the best-known being the Common Mango (Mangifera indica).

The knowledge of the existence of B. kupense is learned only by a singular epiphyte on one small, cultivated mango tree (Mangifera indica), in a private garden in Nyasoso (at elev. 830 m), Mount Kupe.
The village is surrounded by lush vegetation, including many Palmyra Palms and mangos.
